Tipos a minister Huliak rozdali seniorom šeky za 120-tisíc eur, ale peniaze zatiaľ nie sú kryté

Minister športu Rudolf Huliak recently conducted an extravagant event where he announced a new initiative aimed at financially supporting seniors. In front of cameras, he presented checks totaling 120,000 euros to representatives of a senior non-governmental organization, intending these funds to be primarily utilized for sports activities.

However, a critical issue has emerged: these promising donations are currently nothing more than worthless pieces of plastic. According to findings from TVnoviny.sk, the state lottery operator TIPOS, from which the funds are supposed to be sourced, clarified that this is merely a „plan” and that no donation agreements have been finalized.

Ročné sľuby a nezrealizované zmluvy

Huliak publicly announced an ambitious plan for an annual financial boost of 120,000 euros for senior organizations. This funding is to be drawn from TIPOS, which operates gambling activities. The event was organized in cooperation with the head of one of the leading senior NGOs – the Union of Pensioners. At the event, the first symbolic checks were handed out.

Reportedly, the allocation of these funds is set to be distributed as 15,000 euros to each county. During the presentation, Huliak stated that although the funds are earmarked for sports, seniors could use them for catering as well, emphasizing the peculiar suggestion to use it „for water” during their sports activities, claiming he sees no better use for the money.

Symbolické šeky bez reálnych peňazí

A key issue surrounding this initiative is that despite the ceremonial presentation, the checks worth 120,000 euros are not backed by real financial resources. TVnoviny.sk approached TIPOS to review the donation agreements, but the state lottery company revealed that no binding contract has yet been established. They labeled the situation as merely a „plan,” underscoring that the organization must first officially apply for the grant.

The application process requires applicants to submit a formal request for the donation, which is then assessed for compliance with the company’s objectives and activities. Only after this evaluation will formal donation contracts be created and concluded. This means the issued checks currently have no monetary value and their realization is contingent upon an approval process.

Nejasné kritériá pre prerozdelenie prostriedkov

Moreover, a significant question remains unanswered regarding the criteria used to select the organization set to receive the funds. Huliak has not clearly elucidated the criteria guiding his decision to allocate state funds from TIPOS to the Union of Pensioners rather than to other numerous sports or senior organizations across Slovakia.

There remains uncertainty whether pensioners will eventually receive the advertised funds at all.
